Elicia Maine is an expert in the management of technological innovation and in the commercialization of advanced materials. She has published in leading technology management journals including Research Policy, R&D Management, International Journal of Technology Management, and Technovation. Dr. Maine has developed an investment methodology for materials, a strategic tool used to assist seed capital firms in assessing early stage material innovations. She has also co-authored a manual on this topic, Succeeding with New Materials: A Comprehensive Guide for Assessing Market Potential (2002, University of Cambridge), which is now available as a downloadable eBook. Working closely with high tech companies, Dr. Garnsey has gained experience on the university-industry interface, on support for new business in incubation centres and science parks, and on acquisition by and joint ventures with larger corporations. Recently she has advised the Lighter Evenings Committee of the House of Lords, and worked on the Shell Springboard Program for young environmental companies. She has also been an advisor to the Bank of England, the Treasury, and the Confederation of British Industry on high tech enterprise, as well as an Expert Witness to Parliamentary committees.
